Registration

All four sections must be completed in order to register. After you register, an account activation email will be sent to the email address provided.

If you registered for the 2013 - 2017 application cycle, login with that username and password as your data and certain documents will be displayed in the account.

Thank you for your interest in the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Please refer to the Memorial University of Newfoundland and Faculty of Medicine Calendars, paying particular attention to the Regulations for the Degree of Doctor of Medicine, and the Admissions Office, Faculty of Medicine Website.

The Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS) provides the online admissions application and document management services only for the Degree of Doctor of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland. All admission decisions are made by the Admissions Office, Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland.

The deadline for application and document submission is September 14, 2017 at 17:00 NDT.

All instructions must be adhered to when completing the application. Any or all of the information given on this application may be verified by the Admissions Committee.

In addition to the completed application, the following must be supplied to CaRMS:

1. Transcripts of Educational Record: One official transcript from all universities/colleges attended must be submitted. Transcripts are only considered official if they bear the institution's seal and are sent directly from the institution. Applicants will be contacted by the Admissions Office, Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland if updated transcripts are required. Transcripts are considered confidential and will not be viewable by the applicant.

2. Reference Letters: Two reference letters must be submitted. At least one academic reference is preferred. Reference letters are considered confidential and will not be viewable by the applicant.

3. Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) Results: Applicants must write the Medical College Admission Test prior to the application submission deadline. All test results must be released to the Canadian Resident Matching Service by visiting MCAT. The latest test date for which scores will be considered is September 9, 2017, and you will need to release the scores by October 10, 2017.

4. Fees: Applicants are required to pay an application processing fee of $75 to Memorial University of Newfoundland during the submission process, as well as an application service fee of $156.75 (plus applicable taxes) to CaRMS prior to submitting. Please note that all fees are non-refundable. All fees are paid online by credit card. Applicants who have financial barriers to paying these fees should contact the Admissions Office for assistance.

5. Aboriginal Admissions Program: If applicable, documents pertaining to the Aboriginal Admissions Program must be submitted.

Supporting Documentation

All supporting documents should be received by CaRMS by the published deadline. Any documents sent to Memorial University of Newfoundland will be destroyed immediately. A coversheet must accompany a document when it is sent to CaRMS for scanning, with the exception of a document sent directly from the source, e.g. IB and post-secondary transcripts. Coversheets are created within the application. Documents without a coversheet will not be considered.

Returning Applicants

If you registered for the 2013 to 2017 application cycle, and use that account for the 2018 cycle, the information entered, and IB and Cègep transcripts, if applicable, will be displayed in your account. You must review your information to ensure it is accurate and up to date. You must still submit any other required supporting documents.

Applicant Responsibilities

It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the Admissions Committee is provided with all information requested in order to properly assess the application for admission. Your application will not be considered if the required supporting documents are not received by the required date(s).

If an applicant feels that there is pertinent information that should be added to their application, they must put this request in writing to the Assistant Dean or Admissions Officer for consideration.

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) administers the results of the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), and the 8 digit ID is issued at the time of registering for the exam. If you do not yet know your AAMC ID, you will be able to enter it later on in this application process.
